Meet the Maker

Savannah Bee founder Ted Dennard began working with bees at age 12 and hasn’t stopped. He’s traveled the world to see bees making honey. He keeps bees in Savannah, Georgia, extracting honey, pouring it into beautiful found bottles, and crafting lip balms with wax from his hives and essential oils, hand-poured into tiny tins. In 1998 he began selling his lip balms and honey, and he founded the Savannah Bee Company in 2002, working out of an old classroom at the Oatland Island Wildlife Preserve, where he paid his rent in honey. In 2010 he expanded his space to a 40,000 square foot warehouse just outside of Savannah, and he now operates three retail stores, bottles two lines of world-class honeys, and manufactures a luxury beeswax body care line!
