Oxnard Plain, which McGrath Family Farms has been working since 1868, produces some of the most beautiful organic Seascape Strawberries. The varietal has a high acidity content, are firm in texture, and are compact in size and flavor. They are perfect for preserving, especially when paired with Fair Trade Organic cane sugar, which allows the jam to retain the fruit’s authenticity without being cloyingly sweet. Rose Geranium is steeped in the strawberries for a day, pulling beautiful Rose scents and notes into the preserve, allowing for the elegant taste of fresh strawberries with a touch of rose. Green Story

LA-based Sqirl jams, jellies, and marmalades are made with produce from local family-owned farms that practice sustainable, certified organic methods. The fruit is preserved with a minimal amount of organic fair trade can sugar and naturally occurring pectin, and preserved in copper jam pans that are made by a nearby coppersmith. Her preserves take no shortcuts and can take up to three days to produce – they remind us to slow down and enjoy life sometimes, spread on toast!
