Meet the Maker

The Alexandra Ferguson “sassy little pillow company” launched in January 2009 and, fittingly, the first pillow she sold bore the words, “Yes We Can”. With roots in the New York Fashion runway, Alexandra began crafting sustainable pillows in her free time, with a used sewing machine and a wicked pair of scissors. Now, she has little free time, but the same sewing machine still joins every pillow. Her best pillow ideas come from early morning drives with her radio bass pounding, or through inspiration from mid-century modern, early American Folk art, or Roy Lichtenstein’s painting. Her pillows bear messages ranging from the funny (“Call Your Mother”) to the playful (“Be Nice Or Leave”) to the encouraging (“Be Brave”). Who says stylish home accessories can’t be sustainable? These pillows are made in the USA from beginning to end.

Recycled water bottles in your pillow? That’s right! All of the felt used to make Alexandra Ferguson products is made from 100% recycled plastic PET containers. Beginning February 1, 2011, all of the polyfill inserts that accompany the pillows are made from recycled plastic. Every pillow is stuffed with the fiber produced from 10-20 water bottles – start hydrating!
